A kitchen fire on the third floor of a West Hartford, Connecticut apartment building displaced 12 residents Saturday evening. Firefighters responded to the four-story building in the 900 block of Farmington Avenue around 7:52 p.m.
When crews arrived, they found alarms sounding and the sprinkler system already active, with smoke showing from the third floor. The sprinkler system had contained the fire to the kitchen of the unit where it started, and investigators confirmed the fire never extended beyond that apartment. Despite the contained fire, the building suffered smoke and water damage. Twelve residents were displaced and are being assisted by the American Red Cross. No injuries were reported.
